Yamaha was one of only three manufacturers to update its 450 motocross bike for 2022. The blue crew gave this models YZ450F new internal fork and shock settings for increased mid- to high-speed damping force; speced a 28-gram-lighter rear hub, 42-gram-lighter rear sprocket, and 73-gram-lighter chain to reduce unsprung weight; and switched from a two-cross-spoke pattern to a three-cross on the rear wheel for better traction and impact reaction.

The Yamaha YZ450F is a four-stroke racing motocross bike built by Yamaha Motor Corporation. It was the successor to the previous YZ426F which was discontinued in 2003. It is credited by Cycle World and Dirt Rider magazines as the bike that started the four-stroke dirt bike revolution.

The YZ450F is always a fierce contender in Dirt Rider’s 450 Motocross Shootout thanks to a powerful engine, excellent suspension, and predictable handling.

Joining the Star Racing Monster Energy Racing Yamaha team for 2022, Eli Tomac is eager for that first gate drop aboard the Yamaha YF450F at the series opener at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The Coloradan is a proven title contender and is the winningest rider currently active in the premier class. After his impressive three-peat (2017-2019) in the Pro Motocross 450MX Championship, he added the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship to his resume.

Tomac also has been crowned Monster Energy Cup Champion twice, first in 2016 and then taking the ultimate prize of being a $1 Million Winner in 2018 for sweeping all three motos. In addition to his 450 titles, he was crowned the 250SX West Champion in 2012 and the Pro Motocross 250MX Champion in 2013.
